Campus Pride

About the client:

Campus Pride represents the leading national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ students. The organization is a volunteer-driven network “for” and “by” student leaders. The primary objective of Campus Pride is to develop necessary resources, programs and services to support LGBTQ and ally students on college campuses across the United States.

Overview of project:

  • Oversaw and implemented transfer of online operations from series of independent, static HTML websites to a single domain housing internal projects on a backend driven by a modern content management system
  • Web design included heavy modification of a ready-made business theme structure to include a custom home page and inclusion of internal projects on separate sub-pages and domains, including a blog and sub-pages for various programs
  • Integration of social media and related posts on each page
  • Integration of an online web store, including featured projects on each page
  • Redesign and upgrade occurred in 2012, with online branding standards currently still in use by the organization

 


 

Charlotte Pride

About the client:

I’m a longtime volunteer and board member with Charlotte Pride, the leader in LGBTQ visibility in Charlotte and the Carolinas. We present and collaborate on programs, projects, and activities, including the annual Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade, Charlotte Trans Pride, Charlotte Latin Pride, and the GayCharlotte Film Festival, among others. Since its founding in 2000, Charlotte Pride has expanded its year-round programming and partnerships to better connect community members with its mission, vision, and values. It is now one of the largest LGBTQ Pride organizations in the American Southeast.

Overview of project:

  • Web maintenance, design, content creation and management since 2011
  • Website features drag-and-drop content management system easing editing and creation of various front page designs dually optimized for both a large, annual fundraising event and a regular programmatic focus throughout rest of the year
  • Branding consistent email marketing template used for regular communication with members, supporters, event attendees and donors
  • Social media strategy and calendar optimizes website engagement with eye toward branding consistency and revenue generation
  • Current branding standards were instituted in 2012 and are currently still in use by the organization

About the client:

From 2007 to 2015, I worked as the editor of QNotes, the LGBT arts, entertainment and news publication based in Charlotte, N.C. With a strong and robust presence online at goqnotes.com, and a free print circulation distributed every other week, QNotes is the largest and most trusted source of news, politics, opinion, entertainment, art, lifestyle, community events and more for LGBT North Carolinians and South Carolinians.

Overview of project:

  • Oversaw and implemented transition of online operations from static, HTML webpages to modern content management system in Spring 2008
  • Content management system introduced new, highly flexible archiving system for news and features
  • Various designs and iterations 2008-2015
  • Current iteration of website includes highly customized content management for various newspaper sections and content types
  • Two email marketing templates were created to service regular news and each biweekly print edition; off-week template designed to mimic the look and feel of print edition masthead with print edition cover and masthead used in each biweekly print edition version
  • Current design and branding standards instituted in 2014 and still in use by the organization
