Equality Winston-Salem
WordPress installation/set-up. Custom site design. Donated hosting and domain name.
Working with members of Equality Winston-Salem volunteer leadership, Matt created a custom WordPress theme that allows the community organization to advertise its Gay Bingo events, collect ticket purchases and publish recent news, community resources and more. As a proud Winston-Salem native committed to ensuring progress and equality in his hometown, Matt donated his time and services, the Equality Winston-Salem domain name and continues to provide donated hosting services for the organization. Pride Charlotte 2011

As a volunteer on Pride Charlotte’s organizing committee, Matt reinvigorated Pride Charlotte’s online presence. The new site, which debuted March 1, 2011, accomplishes tasks set out by the Pride Charlotte organizing committee, which wanted to the site to be sleek and clean, professional and easily navigable. Various informational sections of the site include spaces for sponsors, vendors, volunteers, events and a blog for news and updates. Site design based on framework of the SimpleTen theme, with heavy customization to the theme’s front page and other areas. (Spring 2011, ongoing)
OUT at the Movies, Winston-Salem

The organizers of OUT at the Movies, Winston-Salem requested a simple, easy-to-use and easy-to-navigate website to profile their group’s film screenings, news and other announcements. Matt designed potential logos, of which OUT at the Movies organizers chose one. He also installed the latest version of WordPress and set up the platform enabling OUT at the Movies organizers to post content regarding their upcoming films and other announcements. The customized layout displays the most recent “Upcoming Film” on the homepage of the website, with a separate section for News & Updates. The theme is a customized version of Empty Canvas, a bare-bones WordPress theme built by Adrian Diaconescu (rubiqube.com). (June 2010, ongoing)
Viscera Dance Theatre

Viscera Dance Theatre is an independent dance company operated by Charlotte’s Jack Kirven and Annie Vereen and specializing in provocative art forms in exotic dance, modern dance, multimedia presentation and more. The company requested an original art design with a static, yet graphically-appealing front page and five seasonal color themes. The design features clean and elegant placement for event/performance listings and a blog for Viscera’s news and updates. The heavily-customized and reworked design is built basic structure from Empty Canvas, a WordPress theme built by Adrian Diaconescu (rubiqube.com). (Summer-Fall 2010, ongoing)
QNotes
Logo design. Site design. Maintenance. Social media integration. Email marketing.
QNotes is the LGBT arts, entertainment and news publication of the Carolinas. Based in Charlotte, it has been publishing since 1986. In 2007, Matt was hired as QNotes‘ editor. He revamped their online presence, worked to gain readers through social media and led the news company into the 21st century. The design you see now was built from the Classic WordPress framework. Matt stripped it down to the bare bones and started from scratch, customizing the design and element placement to suit the news publication’s needs. (January 2010, ongoing)
Charlotte Rainbow Action Network for Equality

As a volunteer organizer with Charlotte Rainbow Action Network for Equality (CRANE), Matt offered to coordinate the social media, media relations and online presence of the activist organization. Matt’s work on CRANE’s website included a customized-from-scratch theme design built on a popular theme framework, social media integration, graphic design and blog maintenance and writing. DailyQueerNews.com’s blog, ProgressiveDaily, is an original design. Matt created the blog with the site’s unique needs in mind. Matt also set-up and implemented DailyQueerNews.com’s front page, which includes a dozen feed-driven headlines from various LGBT and progressive websites nationwide and displays the latest headlines from the ProgressiveDaily blog.
